Hypnosis Audios – Having Difficult Conversations
Get Better at Having Difficult Conversations
Approach those hard conversations calmly and confidently with the help of hypnosis
Is there a difficult conversation you’ve been putting off because it just feels too hard?
Do you need to develop more confidence in bringing up those difficult topics?
There’s no getting around it – some conversations in life are just difficult. Nobody looks forward to breaking up with a partner, firing a colleague, or giving someone terrible news. But we do it, because we have to. Putting off conversations like these only delays the inevitable, causing even more pain in the long run.
Of course, understanding this does not on its own make it any easier to do! So what strategies can we put in place to make these conversations a little easier?
How to make difficult conversations less difficult
The first step to effectively tackling a difficult conversation is to fully understand why it is necessary. Define the core essence of why the conversation needs to happen, and hold onto that. Make it the centre of the discussion and come back to it as often as you need to. Having a clear sense of intention will naturally help you communicate more clearly and confidently.
It also pays to consider in advance who this person is and what matters to them. Put yourself in their shoes and think about how best to frame the conversation to help them understand where you’re coming from. Adapt your tone of voice and body language to mirror theirs so that you create a natural sense of rapport.
Finally, you’ll need to remain calm in the lead-up to and throughout the discussion. When you break the bad news, whatever it may be, there’s a whole range of different ways the person may react. The key to handling this uncertainty is simply to be confident that however the person reacts, you can handle it. Stay connected to your intention, and be compassionate but firm in the way you respond.
Of course, this last part is the hardest. If difficult conversations make you nervous, someone telling you to be calm isn’t going to magically make it happen! Thankfully, hypnotically experiencing a calm approach to a difficult conversation can make it much easier to live out this reality.
